Out of all the basic questions, the one that fascinates the most
is ‘Why’. It’s because we keep looking for reasons and justifications for
existence of any particular action or object. When we get an answer to our
‘why’ we are induced with a sense of comfort or discomfort (depending upon our
faith in the explanation provided).
As a child we are born with a tendency to ask questions. There is a
constant struggle to realize the mysteries of life. At every other juncture we are curious about
something witnessed by us for the first time. As we grow up our journey makes
us more informed. There is a sense of knowingness, at least of the things which
can be considered mere basics. Otherwise we look upon the higher resources of
knowledge and knowhow to guide us.
We as humans have decoded sciences that give us the chemistry of
the stars, lifecycles of innumerable species, currents of the deepest oceans
& have even dug into the depths of our brains. We live in a world of
science, reason & logic. We pride ourselves for being the sole governor of
the forces and life forms on this planet. We’re the “Masters of Earth”.
This is where the question ‘why’ becomes so perplexing. We
chop off the forests, commercialize & exploit living species including men;
exhaust natural resources and the list can go on forever. Shouldn’t we as the
master controlling force, be moving towards a society that improves with
passage of time?
Why is it that we can’t overcome the prevailing challenge of
living in coherence with nature? Why is it that we are so little interested in
the purpose of our life? Why do we only follow guidelines that have been set
for us?
Life is not restricted to What & How. It’s
about figuring out your “Why”. Cause we’re boundless.
